In September our building clean division, Managed Site Services secured and commenced the Cleaning Package for Primarks £15million flagship store in York City Centre. Managed directly by Unique Support Services are teams were on site throughout under the guidance of the main contractor Simpson York Ltd. From our first project at Debenhams in Lichfield 4 years ago, Unique Support Services has been undertaking national retail projects in partnership with Simpson York across the UK. Fom Matalan Oxford Street in London, Matalan on St Davids in Cardiff and as far north as the Next in Kirkcaldy, Sctolands Largest Next Home Store, we have consistently suppled a flexible, reliable service.

Build History

The building work started at the Coppergate store last year, and has seen the contractors add another 10,500 sq ft of retail space to the unit making a new 34,400 sq ft store. The Coppergate store will be Primark's second in York, after the May opening of their 100,000 sq ft Monks Cross site, which the company said has seen impressive trade. A spokesman said: "We are pleased to have seen such a positive reaction from the people of York to the opening of the Primark store at Monks Cross Shopping Park. "Everyone involved with the store is delighted with the number of shoppers who have been attracted to the store. We are confident that our customers will continue to enjoy the shopping experience for a long while to come!" The news has been welcomed by other retailers in the city, who say the big brand names like Primark help attract people into the city centre.

Specialist Access

Our works included high level cleaning to both the iternal Atrium and external Soffits by way of specilaist narrow MEWP and 21m truck mount. All works were carried out safely by our inhouse team of IPAF accredited Operatives.

Simpson York have been very instrumental in the Primark store development programme since first undertaking the redevelopment of the former Littlewoods stores into the Primark chain, working on a Design and Build basis with novated teams, througghout the United Kingdom.  Simpson York have enjoyed a repeat business relationship with Primark since 2005. During 2015 they completed a “Refresh” project for Primark in Reading, the fit out of a new store in Northampton and reconfiguration works at Oxford Street East. So far in 2016 we have completed the fit out for the new store at Monks Cross and are currently on site for Primark in Ipswich, Colchester, Coppergate in York and Oxford Street East.

Future Projects

2017 brings greater opportunites for our Strategic Partnership, with future projects including Primark Norwich, 2nd Phase of the expansion for Next at Teesdie Retail Park, Primark at Oldam.
